LAS VEGAS - March 25, 2014 - PRLog -- Every year, Send Me on Vacation holds an annual golf tournament to “drive out” the devastating effects of cancer. This year’s golf tournament will be a collaboration between two different groups: Send Me On Vacation and the Dean Hedstrom Foundation for Melanoma Awareness. The 2014 Pro-Am is being held at the Belleair Country Club in Belleair Florida on May 18th at 12pm.

“This year we are very fortunate to have the opportunity to join forces with the Dean Hedstom Foundation to support cancer education, prevention, and treatment,” said Cathy Backus Founder and President of Send Me on Vacation.

Each team includes a PGA Golf Professional and four amateurs. The tournament will begin with a helicopter ball drop. A helicopter will drop pre-numbered balls that were purchased prior to the event at a hole on the course. The person whose ball lands in or closest to the hole will win a $500 cash prize. Registration, free skin screenings and lunch begin at 10am. A silent auction, heavy hors d'oeurves provided by Outback Steakhouse, entertainment and awards conclude the tournament from 5pm to 7pm. The cost is to play is $250 per player or $1000 per team (each foursome includes a Professional Player.)

Send Me on Vacation will award a local Tampa area cancer survivor with a dream vacation to combat the effects of cancer treatment to nourish the body, mind and spirit. In addition, Send Me on Vacation will sponsor two young golfers from the area to play in their first tournament on behalf of the First Tour Event.

Send Me on Vacation Spokesperson Tammy Jahn, a local Tampa area survivor and past vacation recipient, will also attend the event and join the team in a booth that will share information on early detection of breast cancer, treatment and assistance to those in need.

“Having been a recipient of Send Me on Vacation and being lucky enough to experience a vacation following treatment to rejuvenate my body, mind and spirit motivates me to tell the world about this organization. It’s not easy dealing with the emotional aftermath of cancer and being able to make this transition via a vacation is amazing,” said Tammy Jahn, the organization’s spokesperson.

Those interested in joining the tournament as a team or player can contact Tina Hill by emailing or, call either 913-954-8121 or 909-827-1773. Sponsorship opportunities are still available ranging from a single hole sponsor to presenting sponsor
