By: Asheville Chapter, National Organization of Women Sponsored by AmVets NC Service Foundation, proceeds from the event will support the creation of the Aura Home, a transitional home for female veterans. Currently, the federally funded Veterans Restoration Quarters, does not allow women access to the facility, despite their veteran status and honorable discharge after years of service. The Aura Home project is is led by Alyce Knaflich, a former member of the Asheville National Organization for Women, who was committed to end gender bias against female veterans. The project is endorsed by Asheville NOW, http://ashevillenow.blogspot.com/ The March 29 Asheville fundraiser will benefit Aura Home through these combined efforts, featuring speakers, documentaries, direct access to sponsors and information, and more.
