2014 Chevrolet Equinox Receives Four-Star Overall Safety Rating
The 2014 Equinox earned five stars in side impact testing and four stars in front and rollover crash tests.
Since its introduction in 2010, the Chevy Equinox has become a stand-out among small crossover sport utility models, competing with the likes of the Ford Escape, Hyundai Santa Fe Sport, and Kia Sportage. In addition to earning a four-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA, the 2014 Chevrolet Equinox also earned “Good” ratings in each of the crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. This includes the moderate overlap front crash test, which simulates the effects of two vehicles of the same weight crashing into each other when traveling at under 40 mph.
The 2014 Chevrolet Equinox comes loaded with standard safety features including traction and stability control, antilock disc brakes, front seat side-impact airbags, and side curtain airbags. GM’s OnStar emergency notification system also comes standard on this Chevy SUV. The Equinox also comes equipped with a rearview camera on all trims except for the LS. Rear parking sensors, frontal collision warning, and lane departure warning systems come standard on the LTZ trim and are optional on the 2LT model.
