Alpert Schreyer LLC Attorney H. James “Jay” West Appointed Charles County Circuit Court Judge
A Career Marked by Continued Success
Judge West is an Army veteran who began his career as a military Intelligence Analyst and a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. He went on to receive his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland, College Park and then graduated from the University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law with a law degree.

I am convinced that his background and experience will make him one of Maryland's greatest trial judges.”
Judge West is the first African-American to be appointed to Charles County’s circuit court. He is also a former member of the Board of Directors and former President of The Jude House, Inc., which is an organization that provides treatment services for people struggling to overcome addiction.
