For Christopher—“Topher” to his friends—high school memories were still fresh…and painful.

But twenty years later, Topher receives an unexpected letter—an invitation to revisit his favorite Southern California hangout—a 1950s-styled diner—The Oasis.

For Topher and his friends, Grant, Stephen, Brandon, and the daring teenage girl known as Runaway, the eighties meant more than their senior year of high school, it meant cars—fast cars.

It was…Their Moment in Time.

“Formed from the faded fabric of a bygone era, author Kathleen Cook Huebbe weaves a remarkable tale of camaraderie and the endearing lifestyle of teenage street racing,” said Kathie McGuire, director of Brighton Publishing LLC. “Filled with vivid imagery and powerful prose, Runaway: Their Moment in Time pays homage to cultural icons like George Lucas’s, American Graffiti.”

Kathleen Cook Huebbe was born in Southern California, and grew up listening to stories of the 1950’s-styled street racing from her father, a street racer himself. Ms. Huebbe has been a high school English teacher for more than eighteen years and currently resides in Southern California with her husband, their three energetic young children, and Jake, their Golden Retriever. First envisioned as a daydream, Runaway: Their Moment in Time has been in the making for over twenty years.
