Dog Kingdom Pets Promotes Public Awareness Of Dog Park Safety

ELKTON, Md. - March 20, 2014 - PRLog -- Leslie Clifton of Dog Kingdom Pets is committed to public education. Public awareness of dog body language is necessary to increase dog park safety. Clifton presented at the March 15th PAWS for People Winter Conference in Newark Delaware.

A further engagement on the same topic will take place April 06/14  at the Washington Humane Society from 1 pm - 2:30 pm, Behavior and Learning Center: 7319 Georgia Ave NW, Washington D.C.

There are many factors when considering dog park safety. Not all dogs belong in the dog park. Newly rescued dogs need time to acclimate to a new home environment. They do poorly at dog parks for many reasons.

Other dogs are fearful but owners are not educated to fearful body language. These dogs would rather be at home. Other dogs are overly aggressive and likewise owners do not recognize danger signs of an imminent fight.

Dogs not under owner verbal control, with lack of proper training are not good dog park candidates. Dogs that cannot be verbally redirected are accidents waiting to happen.
