Florida Hospital Flagler Selects EMPros to Staff Emergency Department
Ormond Beach-based Emergency Medicine Professionals, P.A. (EMPros) will staff the hospital’s emergency department, effective April 1.
“Our emergency department is the front door to our hospital. Almost 40,000 patients every year seek treatment for illnesses and accidents that may occur to them or their families,” said Ellie Lenkevich, Florida Hospital Flagler vice president and chief nursing officer. “EmPros is locally owned and operated and is dedicated to providing the highest quality emergency care and service to our patients.”
As part of this, Dr. Kristin McCabe has been appointed to serve as the emergency department medical director for the Palm Coast hospital.
“EmPros has the highest quality of emergency medicine services available for patients,” said McCabe. “Even though we employ nurse practitioners and physician assistants to assist us with patient care, every patient who comes to Florida Hospital Flagler's ER will be seen and cared for by an emergency medicine physician.”
McCabe, a Flagler county resident, is an EMPros shareholder and board member for the Florida College of Emergency Physicians (FCEP). She currently serves as the emergency department medical director at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach.
“I take this opportunity to lead the emergency department in my own community very seriously,” she said. “This is where my own children, husband and parents receive their care. It will be an honor to work with the hospital and medical staff to provide the highest level of excellence in emergency services for Flagler County.”
“We are very excited to be given this opportunity to expand our service to the Flagler community,” said Dr. Stephen Knight, the new assistant medical director for Florida Hospital Flagler’s emergency department. “Florida Hospital Flagler is committed to excellence in emergency care and we share their vision to improve the emergency department.”
EMPros has served as a contract partner with Florida Hospital DeLand for 37 years and at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City for 19 years, as well as at Bert Fish Medical Center in New Smyrna Beach for seven years. EMPros employs approximately 40 board certified local emergency physicians who staff the emergency departments in these three hospitals. More will be hired to staff the facility in Flagler.
