The Written Wyrd Launches Humorous Fantasy Anthology

TACOMA, Wash. - March 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Tacoma speculative fiction author and literary activist Robert A. Boyd announced today that The Written Wyrd has released an anthology of eleven humorous fantasy short stories, a work entitled "Deus Ex Machina".

Like all forms of fiction, Fantasy has more than its share of poorly written stories in overworked tropes.  What makes the situation especially bad for Fantasy is the influence of Dungeons And Dragons, and the classic black-and-white Hollywood horror B movies which have reduced the genre in many cases to crude stereotypes.

"Deus Ex Machina" was created to poke fun at the pretenses of the genre by taking many of these worn out tropes and turning them inside out.  Included are tales of moronic, muscle-bound Heroes, incompetent wizards, redneck elves, and a vegetarian vampire, among others.

This book is presently available on Amazon and through the Written Wyrd web site in both print and downloadable form.

'Bob' Boyd was born on August 10, 1949 in Charleston, South Carolina, and raised in the St Louis, Missouri area.  He began developing his writing craft in Naperville, Illinois in 2002, and moved to Tacoma in 2005.  At this time, he has nine novels completed, with another scheduled for release in late 2014.  Bob is noted for his wicked sense of humor, and for his fascination with history and cultures.  He attends several science fiction conventions in the Pacific Northwest each year to promote self published and small press authorship, and is available for public speaking engagements.
