Kopal on 7 March launched the training programme for widows at Meera Sahabhagini Ashram in Vrindavan where she will groom the widows by teaching them clothing designs.

"I am happy to launch this skill-training programme for the widows on the eve of International Women's Day. The first skill-training programme has been launched in the Meera Sehbhagini Ashram and we will extend our programme to other ashrams with the passage of time," said Kopal.

The apparel created by them will be marketed in the US and Australia on the designs developed by Ms. Kopal.

“The widows will prepare outfits mostly western wear as per designs developed by me,” Kopal added.

The programme was facilitated by an NGO, ‘Sulabh International’ which aims to empower women by providing the widows financial and other support.

Ms. Kopal is an alumnus of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), started her professional career at Italian luxury brand Bottega Veneta. Later she also worked for labels like Ralph Lauren, Kenneth Cole and Converse.
