AKRON, Ohio - March 17, 2014 - PRLog -- NE Ohio Electric Festival -  The Mentor Area Radio Control Society (M.A.R.C.S.) hosts a 3-day indoor radio-controlled model aircraft flying event at the University of Akron’s Stile Athletics Field House on March 21,22,23 2014.  The NEF will present and celebrate the exciting sport and hobby of model aviation and produce funding in support of cancer research.  The public is invited as spectators ($5 admission).  Qualified AMA* pilots will pay $15/day to participate. Attendees 12 years old & under enjoy FREE admission (accompanied by an adult). Free parking!  Vendors on site. Principal sponsors include Horizon Hobby, Lazertoyz, Luke’s RC Planes, the West Michigan Park Flyers,  and the Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA).

The 3-day festival will feature daily demonstrations of state-of-the-art electric-powered radio controlled model aircraft and helicopters, several fun flying contests, and a precision aerobatics competition called “F3P” which will select qualified team members to represent the United States at the 2015 F3P World Championships in Poland.   Pictures and additional information have been posted on the event website and on Facebook.

The NEF will help benefit the American Cancer Society's "Relay for Life" through several fundraising activities at the event - to "Fly in the Face of Cancer".  Thanks to valuable donations received from the Akron Fulton International Airport and the Reno Air Race Association (RARA), $1 raffle tickets will be sold to award a $2000 trip for two to the Reno National Air Races in September – with 100% of the net proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.  The M.A.R.C.S. club will also invite the public to make a donation to participate in a “mass launch” of paper airplanes to symbolically “Fly in the Face of Cancer” during the event.

The club has previously produced the “Holiday Electric Festival” in December 2010, 2011, and 2012 at the Spire Institute in Geneva OH, which became one of the largest AMA-sanctioned indoor R/C flying event in the country with 263 registered pilots in 2012.
