PHILADELPHIA - March 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Finch Brands, a premier boutique branding agency, has launched a Mascot Madness Design Contest to encourage entrants to redesign the collegiate mascot they feel needs it the most. The contest will run from March 16-27 and is open to anyone over 18 years old, though targeted at designers.
Entrants need only select a college mascot to enhance or replace - from their alma mater, a hated rival or any college of their choice - and submit a JPEG of their new and improved design. Applicants will be judged on originality, creativity, and overall design. Designs deemed inappropriate or vulgar will not be considered.
"Mascots receive a lot of attention this time of year," said Mallory Oliver, Finch Brands' Director of Marketing. "We thought the design community could have some fun with that."
The Finch Brands team will judge the first round and leave the final selection up to the public via Facebook. The winner will receive a $200 Visa gift card, a large-scale wall decal of their design, along with other themed prizes totaling $400. As originality is an important factor in judging, participants would be well-advised to stay away from obvious choices - like Wildcats or Panthers - and will not likely make it very far if all they do is evolve an existing option. For the purposes of this content, a mascot is defined as the actual creature who attends games to cheer - not just a team name or logo.
"I'm sure our team will submit designs as well," said Jordan Goldenberg, Finch Brands' Creative Director. "It's a really fun way for an imaginative designer to blow off steam and join in the fun this March."
