Samsung Expands Industry Leadership with New Curved and Ultra High-Definition (UHD) TV Roster

March 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Samsung Electronics the leader in TV technology for eight years, unveiled an impressive broad range of new TV and home entertainment products - including a full line-up of curved and UHD TVs with localised Smart TV features, at its 2014 Samsung Forum for Africa in Malaga, Spain, last month.

Samsung also showcased its flagship sound system, which is designed to increase sound pressure levels and offer consumers an exceptional acoustic experience with versatile, portable equipment.

Ahead of the Curve in Creating the Ultimate Immersive Experience
Ushering in a bold new era of immersive viewing, Samsung is blending its innovative Curved form factor with its UHD TV technology. The curved screen gives videos a stronger presence that does not translate on a flat screen, plus the wider field of view creates a panoramic effect that makes the display seem even bigger than it is.

The curved design enables a more realistic and true-to-life viewing experience with improved viewing angles, even in different viewing positions, so everyone watching has the best seat in the house.

To maximise the advantages of Curved TV, Samsung developed the optimal curvature of 4200R, which provides the best picture quality from a normal watching distance of 3 meters to 4 meters.

The combination of the curve and UHD technology creates the ultimate immersive viewing experience, bringing images to life and providing spectacular colour, clarity and detail. This is augmented by Samsung’s proprietary Auto Depth Enhancer, an algorithm that analyses regions of images and automatically adjusts contrast for a greater sense of depth. It also gives a 3D effect without glasses.

Colour is further enhanced on these sets with Samsung’s PurColor™ technologyin the U9000 Curved UHD TVs, which reproduces colour for even more detail and expression. The number of colour adjustment points has been increased by a factor of seven.

In Africa, Samsung is introducing Curved UHD TVs in 78-inches and 65-inches.

Samsung's UHD TVs provide crisp picture quality because they have four times the resolution and pixels of Full HD. Additionally, all UHD TVs feature UHD Upscaling, which gives users great picture quality regardless of source material.

The proprietary technology converts Full HD, HD and lower resolution sources to nearly-UHD picture quality.UHD Dimmingtechnology also helps to further optimise picture quality by processing each block of a picture and delivering deeper blacks and improved contrast.

As the category leader, Samsung is making significant investments and establishing critical partnerships to invigorate the market and expedite the delivery of a UHD ecosystem to consumers.

This spring, Samsung will offer the UHD Videopack, a 360-degree UHD content solution. This one terabyte hard disc includes UHD quality Fox and Paramount Pictures films and other UHD content. Consumers will also be able to download additional UHD content that becomes available and even house storage capacity for consumers’ own UHD content and TV recordings.

At the same time, Samsung supports all of the latest UHD TV standards in an effort to build a holistic UHD ecosystem with premier content partners. Samsung UHD TVs are also the only TVs on the market that are future-ready due to the Samsung UHD Evolution Kit. In fact, in the industry, only Samsung UHD TVs are PrimePass certified, which means users can be confident about enjoying the new detail and picture quality of this next-generation TV technology.

Through its three UHD TV series – S9, U9000 and U8500 – Samsung will offer a full lineup of UHD Smart TV models in 2014, in both curved and flat form factors, enabling consumers to choose the UHD TV that best fits their lifestyle.

Smart Experience: Now Smarter, Easier and Faster than Ever
Samsung’s Smart TV is even easier, faster and more fun to use. The new Multilink Screen brings contextual multitasking to the big screen, enabling users to go deeper into their entertainment by splitting the screen into two and bring related content alongside Live TV to enhance the viewing experience.

Consumers can populate the right-hand screen with contextual search results on the Web browser, YouTube and more for side-by-side enjoyment of related entertainment and information streams.

The 2014 Samsung Smart Hub is more intuitive and enjoyable. With the new design, content is organised and easily accessible, giving people more control of their entertainment experience.

The new NewsON panel was developed in partnership with Yahoo!, so that users, even in low bandwidth locations, can access real-time news and weather. The feature provides easy access to various forms of content in the local language.

Additionally, the new More TV feature provides advanced options specifically designed for a family experience. The feature allows users to make simple screen and sound captures of their favorite TV moments, and viewers can quickly access the feature with a hot key on the TV’s accompanying remote control.

Plus, this year Samsung is making the set up process simpler, eliminating the need for a set-top box and extra cords. Samsung customers can experience hundreds of free satellite TV channels as part of some of Samsung’s new TVs.

To ensure nothing comes between consumers and their on-screen entertainment, Samsung has created Multi Power TV to give users stable TV viewing even with an unstable power supply. By simultaneously being connected to an AC power source from a common house outlet and a DC power source through an alternative energy source, the consumer is still able to enjoy a comfortable TV viewing experience despite power supply conditions.

The new Smart TV experience is also fast, thanks to the upgraded Quad Core processor. In fact, the QuadCore Plusis up to two times faster and delivers quicker loading and navigation with an overall improved Smart TV performance.
