Steve Smith Strikes Out Domestic Violence for New Charity

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - March 13, 2014 - PRLog -- Charlotte,  NC – With the establishment of the Steve Smith Family Foundation (S2F2)  in 2013, the Carolina Panther and his wife Angie are dedicated to providing hope and inspiration to those in need of physical, emotional and spiritual guidance within their community.  Giving back to the city that helped shape his successful career is something both Steve and his wife have always been passionate about.

Sunday, March 2^nd was the launch of S2F2’s inaugural event, Strike Out Domestic Violence, held at 10 Park Lanes on Montford Drive in Charlotte.  The event was created to encourage family interaction and bonding, while nurturing a safe environment for domestic abuse survivors and their children to participate in something truly fun.

The Greene Group, a long-time supporter of the event’s premier partner, Safe Alliance, helped sponsor the bowling event that included a VIP experience with a Steve Smith meet and greet, autographed souvenir lanyards, commemorative t-shirt, bowling and lounge access with complimentary refreshments.  Funds raised from this event benefited Safe Alliance, who in 2013 alone responded to nearly 12,000 domestic violence hotline calls in Mecklenburg County and helped house more than 950 women and children in its Clyde and Ethel Dickinson Domestic Violence Shelter.

The Steve Smith Family Foundation will next serve as the title sponsor for the Siskey YMCA of Greater Charlotte’s first Memorial Day 5K and Pancake Breakfast on Monday, May 26^th.  Safe Alliance will continue to provide a continuum of critical crisis services to those victimized by domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse and trauma.
