CEO Roundtable on CSR for Cement Sector in light of Section-135, Companies Act, 2013

March 12, 2014 - PRLog -- NextGen, India’s leading CSR and Sustainability Management Company, in association with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), Cement Manufacturers Association (CMA), and Institute for Industrial Productivity (IIP), are bringing together industry leaders of the Cement Sector on a Google+ Hangout session. The objective of the Google+ Hangout is to exchange views on how best the Cement industry can further the CSR agenda in India through a collaborative approach for maximum impact.
The Cement industry will be one of the major contributors to the CSR pie with an estimated CSR corpus of approximately INR 250 crore, and effective utilization of this fund can impact the goal of inclusive social development significantly. Along with the funds, the Cement industry can also bring expertise on better environmental sustainability practices. The Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs is supporting this Google+ Hangout. The Hangout will be held on March 13th, 2014 from 4:00 pm- 5:30 pm.
The panelists for the event are, Dr Bhaskar Chatterjee, Director General and CEO of IICA; Mr L Rajasekar, Executive President, Ultratech Cement Ltd; Mr Mahendra Singhi, Group CEO & Wholetime Director, Dalmia Cement Ltd; Mr S K Wali, Wholetime Director, JK Lakshmi Cement Ltd; Mr Ujjwal Batrja, Managing Director, Lafarge India Pvt Ltd; Mr Jigar V Shah, Executive Director, IIP; Mr N A Viswanathan, Secretary General, CMA.
The aim of this session is to deliberate on how social delivery can be integrated into business and with CSR as the driver of inclusive growth. It will also discuss the inclusion of various activities listed under Schedule VII of Section 135, identify ways to integrate CSR in business strategies, creating shared value and strengthen the delivery mechanism to realize its true social impact. The talk will also disseminate information on salient features of the legislation so that the participating members develop better understanding and are well prepared to adopt it. This knowledge exchange session shall assist cement companies to comply with Section 135 in a way that it mutually benefits both, business and society. The talk shall also seek to dispel doubts and queries which may have arisen on Section 135.
