Follow on Google News | Aberdeen Asset Management Inter-School Sailing Festival 15 and 16 MarchWith new Title Sponsor Aberdeen Asset Management, this year’s Inter-School Sailing Festival features a packed entry list, with 12 teams in Division A and 11 in Division B.
Alex Boggis, Managing Director, Hong Kong, Aberdeen Asset Management is enthusiastic about the event and said:“Sailing is an exciting sport that Aberdeen strongly identifies with. Teamwork and the ability to manage the unexpected are key qualities that we admire. We also believe in supporting youth development, which ties in with our investment philosophy of identifying potential and having the patience to allow that potential to really blossom. We hope everyone has a great time at the 2014 Aberdeen Asset Management Inter-School Sailing Festival.”Over the course of the two days, the competition will use a team racing format over 120 short races to identify the winning teams in each Division, with the action taking place in the waters right in front of the Deep Water Bay to Repulse Bay promenade. It is critical for teams to work together as a tactical unit to prevent their opposition from scoring a lower total for their three boats, with points being awarded to each boat equal to their finishing place. The 12 teams in division A will be divided into two for round-robin qualifiers, after which the top three teams from each pool progress to the finals round-robin. The 11 teams in division B will sail a straight round-robin. In this format, each race will be as important as the last and while teams will be ranked on the number of race wins, the close competition will probably mean that the final results will also be decided on the positions scored in each race. The Race Committee will be kept on their toes ensuring that the event makes the most of the conditions to squeeze in the required number of races and if not the competition may be adjusted to ensure that come 1600hrs on Sunday the winners can be decided Provisional Entry List Division A (Feva) Division B (Q'ba/Pico) South Island School Hong Kong Sea School German Swiss International School King George V School King George V School Hong Kong Schools Sailing Association Operation Breakthrough Macau Anglican College French International School Island School Macau Anglican College Jockey Club Ti-I College Kellett School Kellett School Renaissance College South Island School B Hong Kong Sea School French International School B Hong Kong & ISF Academy French International School C Island School Hong Kong International School Chinese International School Past Winners Year Division A Division B Boats Used 2013 South Island School Hong Kong Sea School 12 Feva / 6 Q'ba / 6 Pico 2012 Hong Kong Sea School Hong Kong Sea School 12 Feva / 6 Q'ba / 6 Pico 2011 South Island School Hong Kong Sea School 12 Feva / 12 Q'ba 2010 Island School West Island School 12 Feva / 6 Q'ba / 6 Pico 2009 Hong Kong Sea School French International School 12 Feva / 12 Topaz 2008 Hong Kong Sea School 12 Topaz 2007 Island School 12 Topaz 2006 Hong Kong Sea School 12 Topaz 2005 Hong Kong Sea School 12 Topaz 2004 French Inter’l School Hong Kong Inter’l School 6 Topaz / 6 Topper 2003 South Island School Sha Tin College 6 Topaz / 6 Topper End
