2008 Olympic marathon competitor, ultra marathoner and GU Energy Vice President of Innovation, Magdalena Boulet has pulled off an improbable running accomplishment, winning back-to-back races at starkly different distance in the same month. On February 23, she won the USA National Masters 8K Championship Race at the 23rd Annual Brea 8K Classic and on March 8th won the Way Too Cool 50km Endurance Trail Run in Cool, California to complete the stunning double.
The Way Too Cool win, in 3:53:09, came against a strong competitive field in one of the largest ultra races in the United States, and placed her tenth overall in a field of 1,050 starters. Her win at the USA National Masters 8K in 28:15 also placed her ahead of that race’s Open women’s winning time. Way Too Cool was Boulet’
s second ultra-distance race, after she placed second at The North Face Endurance Challenge Championship 50-miler in late 2013.
“I enjoy racing at different distances,” said Boulet. “For now, I’m really happy to do long trail runs and am enjoying the ultra running world, but building speed in shorter competitions is tremendously helpful.”
Holding a Master’s Degree in Physiology from the University of California, Boulet is the Vice President of Product Innovation at GU Energy, and also a mother. In her day job, Boulet leads the product research and development of the very nutrition she uses during training and racing.
One of Boulet’s preferred GU Energy gel flavors, Salted Caramel, was released mid-2013 and features the same optimal blend of carbohydrates, proprietary GU amino blend,a full serving of Vitamin C & E and boasts an elevated amount of electrolytes ensuring fast and easy replenishment of sodium and potassium.
Next up on her race schedule is an appearance at the Boston Marathon, as well as lining up at the starting line of the TransRockies Run, the US Mountain Running Championships, and the US 20K National Championships later in 2014.About GU Energy Labs:
