Dave Dempsey to Keynote Michigan Environmental Hall of Fame

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - March 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Dave Dempsey a well-known author and environmentalist  will be the keynote speaker at this year’s Michigan Environmental Hall of Fame on April 10,7PM at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum in Grand Rapids.

         Dave Dempsey is the author of five books and co-author of three, including “On the Brink: The Great Lakes in the 21st Century”.  A native of Michigan, he was winner of the 2009 Michigan Author Award.  He has degrees from Western Michigan University and Michigan State University, and has spent most of his professional career in environmental conservation.

         He will be speaking on “Michigan’s Conservation Heroes; The Untold Stories”

Saves will tell stories of citizens, many long forgotten, who made the state a nationally recognized champion of natural resource protection.  He will also discuss the need for present and future conservation heroes to pick up the banner.

         His  positions have included:

Executive Director, Michigan Council on Environmental Quality

Program director, Michigan Office, Clean Water Action.

Policy Director/Senior Advisor, Michigan Environmental Council

Member Great Lakes Fishery Commission.

         Mr. Dempsey has also found time to write several books. Among them “Ruin and Recovery; Michigan’s Rise as a Conservation Leader” and a biography of former Governor William Milliken, “William G. Milliken: Michigan’s Passionate Moderate”.
