LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - March 5, 2014 - PRLog -- Melissa Jaqua combines instinctive fashion ability with a never-ending quest to push the limits of creativity. The result: an inspirational and unforgettable artist whose résumé touches on every corner of the beauty industry. Her acclaimed photo work has appeared in worldwide magazines. Her talent with multicultural hair earned her the prestigious North American Hairstylist of the Year award. She has worked on national television on the hit shows So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Next Top Model, Dancing with the Stars, American Idol, America’s Got Talent, X Factor, New Girl, The Voice, and Hannah Montana. Her silver screen credits include Golden Globe winner The Artist, a silent black and white film that showcased her outstanding work with period hair. Melissa has been a featured Paul Mitchell headliner in classrooms, educational videos, ad campaigns, and the company’s annual Gathering in the USA and internationally. Her most prestigious achievement was an invitation to participate in the world-famous London Alternative Hair Show. She creates runway looks for some of the fashion world’s top designers, works as a session stylist for iconic photographers, and serves a dedicated and diverse clientele in Los Angeles and at her San Diego–based salon and educational facility, The Workshop.

Abe Barron, an ex-gang banger and construction worker, never imagined he’d become a hairdressing inspiration. Given an ultimatum to join the navy or go to beauty school, Abe choose the latter – beating the odds, breaking stereotypes, and earning a position next to Paul Mitchell Global Artistic Director Robert Cromeans both on and off stage.

Abe was one of Robert’s first assistants and artistic team members and an integral part in designing educational programs and training new talent for A Robert Cromeans Salon. He has worked in salons, schools, videos, and onstage internationally as a Paul Mitchell educator and Artistic Director for UNITE. Abe’s credits include the hit TV shows So You Think You Can Dance, X Factor, and American Music Awards. A successful hairdresser with a thriving guest list, he has opened three salons with over 65 team members. He continues to work behind the chair and onstage with his partner Melissa Jaqua, co-owner of their San Diego salon, The Workshop. Talented, full of humor, and endlessly inspiring, Abe leaves a lasting impression on everyone he meets.

Interviewed by Winn Claybaugh, Melissa and Abe beautifully represent all that is amazing about the beauty industry. They both have had long, diverse, successful careers; they love what they do and they are passionate about mentoring the next generation. What a gift!
