March 5, 2014 - PRLog -- WOOD RIVER, ILL.— Nissan has always endeavored to develop vehicle technology that keeps drivers and passengers safe, and now the automaker is introducing a new rear-view mirror that doubles as a full-width LCD screen that will be introduced at this year’s Geneva Motor Show!

The mirror’s LCD screen can display a wide-angle view of what’s going on behind the vehicle, providing drivers with a better way to back up. All drivers must do to toggle between the traditional rear-view mirror and the camera display is flip a switch.

“[The Smart mirror] offers the possibility of new and exciting designs for our upcoming models because Smart rearview mirror is an alternative to a very wide rear window for good visibility,” said Andy Palmer, chief planning officer and executive vice president of Nissan. “We’ll have the flexibility to create new shapes, and to further improve aerodynamics for better fuel efficiency.”

To start, this high-tech mirror will be put in place on a vehicle for the 24 Hours of Le Mans Race, and later, may make its debut on passenger cars.
