Debt Crowdfunding Cocktails and Presentation at pre-Oscars event series
The Soho Loft hosted Debt Crowdfunding discussions and cocktails 28 February 2014 at Venice Canals Walkway in Los Angeles
What began as a way to help businesses and startups to raise funds for their projects without relying on banks and other conventional financing sources, crowdfunding has metamorphosed into a way of raising money for just about anything. By anything, we’re talking about anything.
Crowdfunding is surely branching out in several areas, from donations for typhoon victims to the latest gizmo waiting to take off, to a gastronomic concoction the world must know to movies and TV shows --- even personal causes. By personal causes, this could mean medical costs to honeymoons or even college education debts.
The cocktail presentation was the most opportune time to discuss issues on debt financing. Basically, debt financing is borrowing money with a promise to pay back the principal amount with or without an interest. Startups often turn to debt financing to fund their operations. Debts can be issued by a private company or a family member or even a friend.
