SAN DIEGO - March 4, 2014 - PRLog -- California Labradors, Retrievers and More (Labs and More), the fastest growing dog rescue organization in Southern California, is hosting their third annual fundraiser extravaganza, “Bark at the Beach,” on Saturday, April 12th at La Jolla’s Cuvier Club from 5:30 – 8:30 pm.

“In three years, we have saved 1,800 dogs from the perils of dying in shelters or running the streets,” said organization president Steve Munday. “Our mission expands beyond the scope of typical rescues. Labs and More is dedicated to rescuing mixed and pure bred, puppies and senior dogs, and those dogs with medical challenges. We partner with local trainers, veterinarians, families and volunteers to provide lifelong support to the dogs rescued and homed.”

Bark at the Beach will offer live entertainment, food from multiple caterers, an open bar, wine tasting, a raffle to win an iPad and a live auction conducted by well-known professional auctioneer, Kathy Kingston..  Attendees can bid on a variety of items from skate boards and custom dog beds to trip packages including getaways to Tuscany, Bali, Sonoma, Julian and Catalina, and admission tickets to Coachella and Stagecoach music festivals. Event sponsors include RoadRunner Sports and Larsen Family Winery.

Last year, Labs and More collected more than $50,000 and this year, they hope to accomplish their year-end goal of saving at least 800 dogs, according to Joanne Fountain, Fundraiser Director.

“This year we moved to La Jolla as we had outgrown our previous location, the Barn in Carlsbad,” said Fountain. “We were looking for a venue that would give us more opportunity to attract attendees. By overwhelming request we are bringing back wine tasting sponsored by the Larson Family Winery. Their wine bottle labels have three Labrador Retrievers, and it is a big seller!”

Labs and More was granted permission from the producers of the movie "Endless Summer II" to modify their film cover design and use it for the promotion of Bark at the Beach (see picture).  The organization recently started the Compassion 4 Paws Foundation to assist senior and injured dogs, as well as to donate puppies to wounded warriors.  These dogs are trained as service dogs to help veterans regain their freedom and security.  The love and support these dogs provide makes a tremendous difference in their desire to move on and live.
