Peckham – A New Up-and-Coming Part of London

LONDON - Feb. 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Peckham is an area undergoing rapid change. It is just 3.5 miles South East of Charing Cross and is one of the 35 major centres within the London metropolitan area.Today it is a vibrant and colourful part of town with trendy galleries, funky public buildings, rooftop bars, low-key clubs  and ethnic produce shops of all descriptions.

Our project in Peckham is along Rye Lane, one of the main commercial and shopping streets in Peckham.  It is close to the Peckham Rye Lane station on the newly completed Overground line which laps around inner London and which enables people to move around zones 2-4 on the London Transport map with ease.

The new train route is one of the main reasons that the area is undergoing a rapid change.  The area boasts beautiful old Victorian and Edwardian home which are now very sought after along with all other types of housing stock.

Young people are attracted to the area as it is near Camberwell College of Arts, a few miles to the West, and Goldsmiths College, not far to the east.  And if you follow the 436 bus route, you can also come across the Chelsea Arts College and the London College of Communication. This means the area is full of students and creativity.

For those international students from abroad looking for a very multi-cultural experience, you would be hard placed to find another area with the diversity of Peckham. Peckham is a more affordable alternative to Shoreditch and some would say also more “original”.  It will provide a totally different London experience compare with living in the West End, and at considerably less money.

Our development in Rye Lane will involve the demolition of a currently derelict building and the replacement of it with a new 4 storey building with retail on the ground floor with 3 floors of residential apartments above.  The residential units will all be made for the student, professional and short-term rental sectors and they will be looked after by LuxuryDigs.  As with all LuxuryDigs properties, they will be designed and furnished with the expected tenants in mind.  This means all rooms will have abundant storage, there will be modern and trendy furnishing and all finishes will be durable.  The units will also all feature high-security video entryphones.
