Lighthouse Solar of New Paltz Receives Statewide Distinction

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. - Feb. 25, 2014 - PRLog -- New Paltz, NY – Lighthouse Solar of New Paltz recently received the “Excellence in Quality” and “Trailblazer” industry awards from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA). The award was presented to Lighthouse Solar on Tuesday, February 11 at the 2014 ACI Regional Home Performance Conference in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Mills received NYSERDA’s “Excellence in Quality” award for demonstrating consistent application of the solar industry’s best practices resulting in unmatched quality and value in system design, installation, and lifetime energy production.  As part of NYSERDA’s quality control system for the state’s solar rebate program, random inspections were performed on 33% of Lighthouse Solar’s installations spanning the residential and commercial sector.  Lighthouse Solar scored a perfect 5.0 of 5.0 on all inspections placing the firm ahead of the competition for overall solar system quality amongst the 373 other NYSERDA-eligible installers in New York State.

At the same event, Lighthouse Solar also received NYSERDA’s “Trailblazer Award”.  This award is granted in recognition of a team of innovators that pioneers new approaches to renewable power generation by incorporating PV (photovoltaics) into the construction of high performance homes.

The award recognizes a 260 kilowatt ground-mounted solar installation designed and built by Lighthouse Solar Hudson Valley in partnership with Affordable Housing Concepts of Gardiner, NY and Regan Development of Ardsley, NY.  The installation provides 80% of the energy required for the heating and cooling needs of Mason’s Ridge, a newly-developed 82-unit affordable housing complex in New Windsor, NY.
