TORONTO - March 1, 2014 - PRLog -- An initiative to get Rogers Centre to restore “SkyDome” to the name of the sports stadium is growing day by day.

The campaign created by Toronto branding agency Branding for Good has received way over 4000 petitions since it launched the social media name change campaign last summer. It calls on Rogers to compromise on the name and call it Rogers SkyDome.

“We need 50,000 votes on our website", says BFG’s founder Roger Brenninkmeyer. "Everyone we talk to about this loves the idea and hopes it happens."

Brenninkmeyer's vision is to create a public movement to convince Rogers to have the name changed in time for the Skydome’s 25th anniversary June 3, 2014. "It's a perfect opportunity for Rogers to build loyalty amongst their customers," he suggests.

The stadium began life as the SkyDome in1989 before it was renamed in 2005 as "Rogers Centre" after Rogers purchased the stadium.

“The SkyDome name is not only reminiscent of the Blue Jay’s early 1990’s glory years, but it unlocks a deep attachment many of us have to the stadium by using the name SkyDome again, says Brenninkmeyer.
