SWI Industrial Solutions (formerly Springfield Workshop) celebrates its Golden Anniversary with a kickoff event on Friday, February 28, 1:00-3:00 p.m. at 2835 West Bennett.
SWI Industrial Solutions provides meaningful employment to individuals with developmental disabilities. Since its inception, this has been accomplished through the provision of varied occupational choices and experiences to enhance the quality of life for those served.
The organization was launched by families, guardians, and community members who advocated for employment opportunities for disabled persons. From humble beginnings in a house to a 70,000 square foot facility, growth has been a common theme. SWI currently provides diversified jobs to more than 200 individuals.
SWI marks this milestone year with the announcement of continued plans for growth, including building expansion and increased workforce development. This spring, a groundbreaking ceremony will initiate doubling the size of the warehouse and providing a cafeteria. Healthy food options will be available, along with training and job opportunities for employees.
SWI is known for providing kitting, packaging, and assembly services to regional and national companies. 2014 marks the growth of two more business divisions, commercial cleaning and lawn service. The access to varied job opportunities are further strengthened by the thriving Sunny Bunny Easter Egg program; an SWI microbusiness.
