What is the Liquid Gold Facelift?

Liquid Gold is a treatment which uses plasma taken from the patient's own body to repair, rejuvenate and return lost volume to the skin.

How does it work?

Growth factors are contained within the platelets in our blood. These are responsible for healing damaged or injured tissue. When the platelet rich plasma is re-injected at specific sites on the face or body, the cells in this area reproduce rapidly, stimulating repair and rejuvenating the skin. Depending on what depth of the dermis the plasma is injected, this can also cause an increase in volume.

What does this treatment involve?

The treatment starts with a small sample of your blood being taken from your arm (in the same way that it would be if you were having a blood test). This is then placed into a centrifuge and spun very rapidly to separate the plasma from the red blood cells.

The plasma itself is then separated into two parts - platelet rich plasma and platelet poor plasma. The platelet rich plasma is then injected directly into the areas of the skin being treated. A dermal roller is used to create tiny channels in the skin and then any remaining platelet rich plasma is massaged all over the skin for overall rejuvenation.

Which areas can be treated with the Liquid Gold Facelift?

It can be used to treat fine lines and wrinkles on the face, "crepey" areas such as the neck and areas that have sagged, such as the under eye. It can also be used to rejuvenate the backs of the hands, décolletage, elbows, knees and feet.

What results can I expect from Liquid Gold?

Results will be visible from around 3 weeks after your treatment and these will improve gradually over 3-6 months.

Are there any risks or side effects?

The main side effects to be aware of, as with any treatment that involves injections, are bruising and swelling. The level of bruising and swelling varies from person to person. Other side effects to be aware of are redness, itching and pain or tenderness at the treatment site. You may also find that your skin has a very slight purple discolouration for 2-3 days; this is due to the colour of your plasma. All of these reactions are normal and typically resolve on their own a few days after treatment.

Results will vary from person to person, we advise a course of 3 treatments 4-6 weeks apart.
