-- Discussions around politics have become a way of life. With 24/7 news, social networking and prevalence of political websites and blogs; individuals have never had more information about the politics of our government. However, the sheer amount of information has led to polarizing viewpoints and a breakdown in discourse. Rather than informed discussion and debate, the information has served to re-enforce each individual’s viewpoint in a sea of noise.
The concept behind Politif is to provide more structure around this discourse, give it greater meaning, and begin to shape the political landscape. Our site will allow users to define how they feel about political situations and policies, and predict how these issues will be shaped in the future. The goal is to allow these ideas to be shared, discussed and refined in order to ultimately impact how our representatives serve us.
We don’t want your ideas to get lost in a sea of noise. Let Politif help you give structure to your political ideas and ensure that your voice is heard.
Being able to structure and visualize these situations and policies is key to giving this discourse meaning. An effective platform for building the cause-and-effect relationships that are the heart of these issues is one that is familiar and easy to use, interactive diagrams. Starting from a topic of discussion, we will give users a set of possible actions and outcomes (with the ability for them to add their own) to arrange, organize, and link together to form their opinions.
Social networking was a catalyst for this site and it will continue to have a deep integration with it. Users will have the ability to share their opinions directly to popular social networking sites. We will use this to drive more interaction and comments giving us a more rounded view.
Keeping our platform as an unbiased, or at least equally representative, resource is important to its success. Feedback mechanisms driven by social networks will be integrated into the site allowing all users to voice their opinion on how we are doing on this front.
