Freudenberg’s contribution to better air quality in India

Eagle Burgmann India, a Freudenberg Group company, owns a wind turbine of 350KW capacity, which generates approximately 400,000 units of power per year. Recently, further investment has been made in a second wind turbine of 5KW with a solar power generation facility at the plant in Pune, which produces about 50 units of power per day. The power generated is for instance used for lighting areas of the plant. Company vehicles are also a concern. As the high traffic volume impairs air quality, pollution checks are regularly carried out on all the company-owned vehicles, as well as on employee vehicles. Employees are encouraged to use bicycles and the carpool wherever possible.
Today’s economic and environmental mega-trends call for massive improvements in the efficient use of existing energy sources. For more than 50 years, Freudenberg has supplied innovative filter systems: solutions that make processes more economical, conserve resources, protect people and the environment against fine particles and help improve air quality. At production plants, filters also make a key contribution not only to health and safety but also to process optimization and product quality. For example, Freudenberg offers the Viledon® eee.Sy, which stands for “energy-efficiency-
Filters are also used in medical technology for checking contamination. For instance Pyramid Filters, part of Freudenberg Filtration Technologies India, develops air filter elements and systems for clean room applications, not only in the medical but also the pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries. Freudenberg filters are used widely throughout the automotive industry. Here, highly-efficient cabin air filters ensure a steady supply of clean air in the passenger compartment. The majority of new cars are equipped with Freudenberg cabin air filters. A comprehensive portfolio of filters for rooms and cleaners rounds off the range.
Freudenberg Filtration Technologies India, located in Pune, is ISO-14001 certified and uses energy-efficient equipment which requires less energy and therefore contributes to lowering CO2 emissions. Alongside sustainable production, the range of filter products themselves, also have a stake in the future of good air quality.
LESS emissions of CO2
Specialty lubricants are also an effective approach to CO2 reduction at industrial plants and production facilities as they improve machine efficiency. For example, the use of polyglycol oils instead of conventional oils can raise transmission efficiency by up to 15 percent, resulting in similar energy savings.
Different measures have been taken at all 30 Freudenberg Group Indian sites designed to keep the workplace “green” and the air clean. Employees work continuously on feasible solutions for ecologically-
New trees and plants for Bangalore
A further example of sustainability is the Klüber Lubrication site project in Bangalore. On entering the facility, one first notices the hundreds of trees on the site. Every visitor is asked to plant a tree. This way, guests not only contribute positively to the environment, they also enjoy taking part in what has now become a Klüber custom. The site currently has over 100 different species of flora and fauna. To avoid drawing water from the city water supply or groundwater, the trees and plants are watered with collected rain runoffs.
