BROOKLYN, N.Y. - Feb. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- A leader has a vision. Leaders see a problem that needs to be fixed or a goal that must be achieved. It may be something that no one else sees or simply has no interest to tackle.  Whatever it may be, a leader will seek it, and attack it with determination. As we continue to celebrate events in Black History Month, coming to a culmination; On February 27th, 2014 at 6pm, the Honorable Eric L. Adams; Brooklyn Borough President has partnered with the Founder of L.O.T. “Leaders of Tomorrow”; Minister Lamor M. Whitehead to honor individuals of influence; true leaders that have paved the way for our youth today.

L.O.T is a vibrant urban organization located in Brooklyn, NY. This mentoring and development program founded by Minister Lamor M. Whitehead; enriches lives, emboldens confidence and expands options of our youth by building strong leaders in both the classrooms and in their surrounding communities. They are committed to providing educational opportunities, mentoring, athletic training, and opportunities to travel abroad to learn about other cultures. They measure their progress against five criteria, which indicates that a child’s life direction has been changed; Connection to faith, connection to a caring adult and a positive change peer group, commitment to graduating, and a plan for the future. At L.O.T, they believe that cultivating the youth’s sense of empowerment and connectedness is key to creating positive change in communities.

The intentions of Eric L. Adams and Minister Lamor M. Whithead on this formal celebratory evening of February 27th, at the Boys & Girls High School, in the ever-changing borough of Brooklyn, NY is to recognize those individuals in the community, and celebrities who display care, concern and action to continuously provide a positive, influential presence to the youth;

It is crucial to recognize these leaders of their communities and to show them thanks for all they do, therefore our leaders of yesterday, today and tomorrow will have a path, and plan set for them to understand and emulate so that their futures continue to be bright.
