PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. - Feb. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Charles Thomas is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Leonie Industry says, “Information Operation helps to disrupt cycles of violence.”  The US military has relied on Leonie Group in supporting their Information Operation missions for the past nine years.
Leonie Group’s president goes into detail of how they were asked by the military to support their counter IED in Iraq. IED is an improvised explosive device which is homemade bombs famously used by terrorist groups to ward off militant occupants. According to Charles in this article, the Iraq government had put together anonymous hotlines for citizens to report any suspicious activities or known IED placements/sightings.
The article explains that very little citizens called the hotline. Through Information Operation, Leonie Group gathered data from the little information they had. They then strategized to create effective PSA campaigns that were deployed in regions where there were many IED incidents. “The PSAs were very effective, the calls to the hotline began to come in and in increasing numbers,” says Charles Thomas, “there was a direct correlation between the number of PSA and the number of calls to the hotline.”
Though it is difficult to quantify, Charles makes a very valid point when he explains how Leonie Group’s IO helped disrupt cycles of violence.  His example is that a young man places an IED that kills two soldiers, the man is identified and killed. Naturally, this creates more violence because those who are affiliated with that young man will want to seek revenge. IO is able to disrupt this cycle of violence because it is used to help convince these young men to veer away from the path of terrorism.
As for Charles Thomas, he has served our country through the US Army for 32 years. After graduating from Northwestern University, with both his Bachelor and Masters Degree, he joined the Army in 1968. In 1969, he was commissioned from the Engineer Officer Candidate School and went on to becoming a 2nd Lieutenant in the Intelligence branch.  In 1974, Charles completed the Military Intelligence Advanced Course and continued to serve as an intelligence personnel up to his retirement.
