Co-authors, Victor Merkel and Ann Frommer, (RWA / Valley Sun/ NJ-RW, Romance Writers of America members) have started work on the follow-up to their best selling (30 reviews) paperback, "TailGunner:
With 2014 well underway, the authors have teamed up again, to take a young, Hungarian soldier through the Russian battlefields and dangerous streets of post, WWII, Budapest. Meanwhile, in the back mountains of East Pennsylvania, veteran Buck Remke battles to quiet his personal demons. Last, Ilona's only son, Pip Remke, comes of age in England and learns about the existence of his father. A quest, across two continents, begins.
After publishing "TailGunner:
Victor Merkel will reveal how Buck Remke, a WWII veteran in the late 1940s and early 1950s, tries to cope with depression and flashbacks of experiences in a POW camp. Also, research is now underway by Vic, combing through the VA's archival records for PTSD (battle fatigue) treatment. Buck will discover the Philadelphia Veterans Administration labyrinth of experimental treatments such as frontal lobe - lobotomy - for battle fatigue.
Ann Frommer plans one on one interviews with European veterans, historians and survivors still alive to document those times and bring life to the major character, cast as a Hungarian soldier. During a clash on the eastern front, enemy forces capture him, and in the fog of war - thought dead - by the Hungarian Army and his family. Imprisoned but not crushed by grim conditions and with the help of a nurse who grows to love him, he plots an escape in hopes of returning to Budapest.

Victor Merkel is an author, ghostwriter and former electronics' sales executive. Ann Frommer is an author, photographer, medical writer and former director in the field of health care. They both grew up in New England Valley, a lush corridor of green grass and trees, outside coal-torn Tamaqua, Pa. Several one-room schools and Tamaqua High prepared them - best as possible - to live in a world, influenced by the cold war with Russia, Vietnam War and President John Kennedy.
