Tommie Cares Hosts Two Free Snow Events for those with Special Needs in NY in March

BREWSTER, N.Y. - Feb. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- Tommie Cares Foundation is pleased to announce two free snow events for those with special needs featuring snow tubing, an obstacle course, an awards ceremony and more  on March 1^st and 2^nd. Each event will be held at no cost thanks to the generous support of Thunder Ridge Ski Area in Patterson, NY.

Tommie Cares is seeking volunteers (http://www.tommiecares.org/volunteer) of all ages and skill levels to help during each event. No special experience is required, only a desire to help others. Each day begins at 12:30pm with a volunteer orientation and safety training. After being paired with a participant, each volunteer has an opportunity to help their buddy expand their potential through adventure activities like snow tubing and an obstacle course. Each event culminates by 4pm in an awards ceremony honoring each participant with a medal, and a late lunch.

It’s a great way to give back and make a difference. It’s also an outstanding opportunity to earn community service hours, which we’ll sign off at each event.

“It doesn't take a lot if we all chip in to give a child the chance to know new freedom,” said Tom Kallish, Co-Founder of Tommie Cares. “Together, we can do anything.”

Participation for children with special needs is limited for safety on a first-come, first-served basis for those registering online.
