Cherry Bomb Charmers Invade Georgia!

Orange Park’s junior roller derby team, the Cherry Bomb Charmers, will skate their 2014 season opener, entitled “Coming of Rage”, against the SK8 City Sirens on March 16th in Brunswick, Georgia.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Feb. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- North Florida’s fastest-growing junior roller derby team, the Cherry Bomb Charmers, are charging across the border into Georgia for their first bout of the 2014 roller derby season!  The Charmers will take the floor for a full length, full contact bout with the Georgia-based SK8 City Sirens on Sunday, March 16th.

The junior roller derby bout, entitled “Coming of Rage”, will be held at the Fun Town Roller Rink located at 3811 Darien Highway, in Brunswick, Georgia, at 3:00pm on Sunday, March 16th.  Rink doors will open at 2:30pm for the bout.  Admission for the double header event, which also entitles ticketholders to attend the subsequent South Coast Derby Dolls adult bout, is $10 in advance and $12 at the door.   Children ages 10 and under are admitted free.

“Coming of Rage”, an obvious play on “coming of age”, has proved to be an especially relevant theme for the Charmers and the Sirens at the beginning of this 2014 Derby Bouting Season.  Both teams have added new members since they last squared off in 2013’s “Battle on the Border”.  The March 16th bout in Brunswick will be the first for a handful of eager, “fresh meat” junior roller derby skaters.

“The SK8 City Sirens have many fresh faces and seasoned skaters in 2014.  We look forward to bouting with our friends, the Cherry Bomb Charmers.  ‘Coming of Rage’ promises big hits and lots of fun for everyone,” said Sirens’ General Manager, Jennifer Trudell-Butler.

“We’re excited to be bouting the Sirens again this season,” said Charmers’ General Manager, Dana Wolfe, “We’ve got a lot of new faces ourselves –it is incredibly rewarding to be able to share the great sport of roller derby with a new group of hard-working, determined skaters.”

The goal of the Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team is to encourage young skaters to realize their full potential and to empower them to become courageous young women, radiating confidence on and off the track.  As a Charmer, junior derby skaters learn lifelong team-building skills.  Skaters learn strength and independence, all the while celebrating their own individuality and unique identity in an atmosphere of sisterhood and family-like stewardship.

The Cherry Bomb Charmers are a 501(c)3 nonprofit junior roller derby team and are based in Orange Park, Florida.  Fans are encouraged to follow the Charmers on Facebook and Instagram (#cherrybombcharmers).  For more information on the Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team, including how to become a Cherry Bomb Charmer, please visit http://cherrybombcharmers.com or contact: cbcderby@gmail.com.
