NEW YORK - Feb. 21, 2014 - PRLog -- Morris “Arnie” Lang: Upon graduating from the Juilliard School, Arnie Lang received the George Wedge Award for Academic Excellence. While attending school, Mr. Lang was fortunate to study with Saul Goodman, Morris Goldenberg and privately with Billy Gladstone. Two years after graduating, Mr. Lang was offered the associate timpani/percussion position in the New York Philharmonic. He continued in that position, performing with Leonard Bernstein, Pierre Boulez, Zubin Mehta. With Bernstein he played in all of the Young Person’s TV concerts and over 100 recordings. He has toured and done master classes in most parts of the world.

He recorded most of the contemporary percussion repertoire including Chavez “Tocatta”, “Ionization”, “Histoire du Soldat “, Bartok “Sonata for Two Pianos and Two Percussion”, Carter “Eight Pieces for Timpani”.

He taught at New York College of Music, Manhattan School, Brooklyn College, and is now at Lehman College and the CUNY Graduate Center. The Brooklyn College Percussion Ensemble had premiered over 100 works and performed in Hungary, Romania, Korea, Spain and currently continues a 13 year exchange program with Ireland.

Publications include “Bach Three Part Inventions”, “15 Contemporary Etudes”, “The Beginning Snare Drummer”, “Dictionary of Percussion Terms”, “Timpani Tuning”, and most recently, a master class on the Elliot Carter “Eight Pieces for Timpani”.  In 2000 he was inducted into the PAS Hall of Fame and given the KOSA and Sabian “Lifetime Achievement” awards. http://www.pas.org/experience/halloffame/LangMorris.aspx

Most recently he has recorded a series of lessons on Drum Guru. A DVD on Gladstone Technique is to be released by Hudson Music. Also to be released: duos with Terry Silverlight and Fernando Hashimoto. Arnie Lang is going to Dublin in February of 2014 to premiere a new work by Skip Brunner written for Mr. Lang.

Swiss Chris is the author of the best-seller book "Modern Drum Set Stickings". The book has been nominated by Modern Drummer magazine for "Best Educational Book - 2014".

Swiss Chris is an in-demand first-call session drummer/music director. He recently worked with the legendary Gloria Gaynor doing TV appearances and touring for the 30th anniversary “I Will Survive” promo. Swiss is well-known for his work as musical director and drummer for the nine-time GRAMMY® winner John Legend, with whom he worked for four years. He is now concentrating on his own solo career with a forthcoming album. Swiss is also actively involved with his charitable organization, S.W.I.S.S. (Saving With Instruments, Samples and Soundz), dedicated to healing, education, and promoting communication through music for the betterment of the world.
