By: Reveal NYC This year, Reveal NYC has added a fifth shelter to its participating organizations, providing 75 women an opportunity to take part. About 150 volunteers will be serving these women the day of. During the event, the women will be pampered and receive fashion advice by professional stylists and makeup artists. Through partner contributions, they will also receive designer clothing, jewelry and beauty products from donors such as Marciano, BCBG, Maybelline, Garnier Fructis and Forever 21. In addition, the women will participate in a photo shoot. “At every Valentine’s Day Makeover Event to date, we are amazed at the confidence that surges within the women throughout the day,” said Catherine Ngai, president of Reveal NYC. “By celebrating the beauty and dignity of these survivors, we hope to instill within them a sense of power and self-worth.” In order to protect the confidentiality of each participant, the event will be closed to the general public. In addition to the annual Valentine’s Day Makeover Event, Reveal NYC hosts monthly workshops focused on educating women in shelters on nutrition, exercise and job interview presentation.
