CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Feb. 13, 2014 - PRLog -- While preparing for the pro combine, Davon Coleman takes a break from his training in Miami Florida to come up to Coral Springs Florida to mentor and give advice to South Florida student athletes (along with student athletes from around the country) about the importance of what it takes to get to the next level to continue to play the sport that they love.

This event is being sponsored by the Keeping Dreams Alive Foundation™ (http://www.kdafoundation.org) and Director of Player Development, Vic Robinson, says 'having Davon commit to come up to speak to the kids' speaks volumes about the charater of a young man who is now trying to find a spot on a NFL roster'.

Davon graduated from Cleveland's Glenville High School in 2008, where he earned Honorable Mention All-Ohio recognition after his senior season, and was the first ASU signee out of the state of Kansas since former All-Pac-10 member and current Washington Redskins running back Ryan Torain out of Butler Community College in 2006.

Davon career at ASU totaled 166 career tackles, including 31.0 for loss…had 16.0 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery as well as a blocked extra point and blocked field goal attempt…saw action in 39 games, starting 22…2013 Honorable Mention All-Pac-12… Davon graduated with a BIS Degree (Sociology/Criminal Justice) in Spring 2014.

'The importance of having Davon come and talk with these kids is that most of them will have come from the same type of urban background as Davon did and will be able to relate to his story,' added Robinson.

The KDA™ Foundation Team consists of entertainers, pro/college athletes, community leaders, principals, teachers, guidance counselors, coaches and volunteers. We totally support student athletes and their parents as they transition academically /socially from middle to high school and post secondary education, especially in urban communities. We realize that students need more support with maintaining good academic habits and acquiring appropriate life / study skills while being actively involved with their communities.
