Feb. 12, 2014 - PRLog -- Avacta Animal Health – a leading provider of point of care technologies and laboratory services to veterinary practices – has announced the appointment of Dr Kevin Slater as its new Chief Scientific Officer (CSO). Kevin brings a wealth of scientific knowledge and commercial expertise to the role, with over 20 years of experience in the development and commercialisation of biological assays and diagnostic tests.

Coming from an academic background in leukaemia research, Kevin has held various posts within the clinical diagnostics field, and has successfully founded, grown and sold two diagnostic bioscience companies which are now generating revenues of over $20 million. He moved into the veterinary diagnostics sphere in 2004, initially focussing on the development of novel biomarker-based tests for common animal diseases. With 10 years of experience in this sector, Kevin has developed extensive industrial and academic connections around the world, perfectly positioning him to further the research and commercial aspirations of Avacta Animal Health. Kevin commented: “I’m very happy to have joined Avacta at this exciting time. The expansion of our SENSITEST® range into new diagnostic areas offers huge potential for growth, and I hope to use my knowledge of the market to help address currently unmet needs in veterinary testing.”
