Sangam University Bhilwara Rajasthan Celebrates Vishwakarma Puja
According to the Hindu mythology, Vishwakarma is the divine architect who designed the entire universe which included the heaven and the earth.
This day is not only celebrated by the engineering and architectural community, but also by other professionals like artisans, craftsmen, weavers, mechanics, smiths, welders, industrial workers and factory workers. In the eastern parts of India like Bengal, this pooja is celebrated every year on September 17. The southern parts of the country like Tamil Nadu celebrate the ninth day of Dussehra as Ayudha pooja in honour of Viswakarma. While some parts of north India including Pilani celebrate Vishwakarma Puja close to Diwali, other parts including Bhilwara celebrate it close to Basant Panchami.
The Vishwakarma Rashtriya Puraskar VRP and National Safety Awards given every year reflect Government of India’s recognition of the contribution by working men, women and industrial establishments to the noble task of nation building. VRP is awarded in recognition of outstanding suggestions given by a worker or group of workers and implemented by the management during the previous calendar year resulting in improvement in quality, productivity and working conditions such as safety, health and environmental conservation in the industrial undertakings where Suggestion Schemes are operational.
On 12 February 2014 to mark the Vishwakarma Jayanti, President – Vice Chancellor Sangam University Bhilwara Rajasthan, Principal ITM Prof NK Mathur, faculty members, staff and students assembled in the workshop at 11.30 AM and offered prayers to Lord Vishwakarma to seek his blessings for a for creative and safe working environment.
