Follow on Google News | Birthday Cake App Brings 3d Fireworks To The PartyBy: HowToCookThat 'Surprise Cakes' is the world's first augmented reality app for cakes. Available on iTunes and Google Play stores, the app uses gaming technology to bring any cake or dessert to life with realistic 3D fireworks bursting from the frosting. And the fireworks theme is just the start. Ann and fellow developer, Australian game and animation lecturer, Brendan Votano, are already working on several updates to be released in the coming months. "I started wondering if there was a way to harness the tech wizardry of a tablet to bring cakes to life. From there, we dreamed up this clever little app." The app, released a week ago, has already cracked the top 100 food and drink apps in 12 countries and gone top 5 in Ann's native country of Australia. Ann is well-known in online baking, where her YouTube channel 'HowToCookThat' has grabbed the world's attention, with 38 million viewers tuning in for Instagram Cakes, Minions and the largest Snickers ever made. A former dietitian and food scientist, Ann started http://howtocookthat.net and the video channel (http://youtube.com/ In under 3 years, it has grown to be third biggest online baking show worldwide.
