COLUMBUS, Ga. - Feb. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- When it comes to staying calm under pressure, Dr. George Tkalych is a professional. For more than 32 years, he’s successfully helped thousands of patients improve the quality of their lives. Since 1980, when he became Board Certified in Otolaryngology, he skillfully conducted surgical procedures on the ear, nose, throat, neck and head. “I enjoy doing this kind of work,” explains Dr. George Tkalych, “it’s fulfilling to patients and myself.”
Dr. George Tkalych explained that these procedures can be both simple or complex, but its results greatly improve his patients' lives. He recalled one patient in particular, a child that could not hear or talk due to an obstruction in his ear. Dr. George came to the rescue and simply inserted a tube into the middle section of his ear which alleviated the obstruction and ultimately helped the child develop normally. Dr. George Tkalych’s work is very beautiful, the thought that this simple procedure gave that child the ability to hear is nothing short of miraculous.
He has also helped many of his patient’s with problem hearing go from not being able to hear a very busy and noisy traffic intersection to being able to hear the birds in the trees sing their little hearts out. Dr. George is known to go above and beyond for his patients. When other medical managements have failed, he will make sure to find the issue by providing a comprehensive and thorough screening process for his patients. He has done countless nasal, throat and even facial fracture procedures both through his private practice or through his volunteer work. “ I’m proud to say that about 15% of my practice was focused on volunteering to helping those who don’t have any insurance  and couldn’t afford these types of procedures,” explains Dr. George Tkalych.
Throughout his career,  he has moonlighted between five to six different hospitals. “I remember there was a patient that came through the emergency room that had severe head trauma,” shares Dr. George, “I spent 22 hours in the operating room with that patient for free!” Even as a retired Doctor, he has anxiously applied to Doctors without Borders so he can continue helping those who are less fortunate and cannot afford medical attention. He is looking forward to traveling to these countries so he can better their lives.
Dr. George Tkalych has always had the passion to help others since he was a young man. Influenced by God through his Christian Faith, he was determined to better the world.
