Desert Farms Makes Camel Milk Readily Available

SANTA MONICA, Calif. - Feb. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- Desert Farms works with small communities of farmers throughout America to bring wholesome camel milk to individuals across the country. Camel milk has been used for centuries as a good source of nutrition and the main reason why it has not become more popular is due to limited access. Desert Farms is now working to spread the word about the benefits of camel milk and make it more accessible to people who want it. Now with the increase in accessibility, more people can discover the great taste and health benefits of camel milk.

         Camel milk has many nutritional benefits compared to cow milk. Camel milk naturally contains 50% less fat and 50% less saturated fat than USDA cows milk. It also is a natural pro-biotic source, which helps make it easier to digest as well as improving the digestive system. It is a rich source of protein containing 10% of the Average Daily Value per 8oz glass. Camel milk also contains 70% of ADV of vitamin B1. As with other milk sources, camel milk is also a good source of calcium with 30% of the ADV.

         New research on the health benefits of camel milk is being conducted on an ongoing basis across the globe. Researchers at the King Saud University in Saudi Arabia have explored a positive relationship between camel milk and improvements to behavioral and cognitive tests in children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The health benefits of camel milk have been praised by the United Nations since 2006.

The milk bottles are BPA free, made from PETE plastic and can easily be recycled to reduce even more impact.

         Desert Farms started with a plastic bag of camel milk in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. After moving to California, it seemed like the perfect place to bring the nutritious drink for more people to enjoy. From there, Desert Farms started to sell camel milk at mosques and ethnic food festivals. After winning the Marcia Israel Award from USC, Desert Farms decided to expand production and reached out to small communities who valued hard work as well as cooperation; The Amish community. Now Desert Farms works with a few small farmers who have between 2 and 20 camels on each farm.
