Anglo Pacific Brings Rare Triumph Home from Malta

PARK ROYAL, U.K. - Feb. 11, 2014 - PRLog -- A year searching and 15 car viewings later, Glyn Williams from Buckinghamshire finally located an immaculate Triumph TR4A – in Malta.  Not wanting the lengthy process to fall at the last hurdle, he entrusted its shipping to Anglo Pacific (http://www.anglopacific.co.uk/).

“The cars I viewed in the UK had been rebuilt, but rather badly, so I had to look further afield,” says engineer Glyn.  “When I saw the 1965 TR4A (http://www.anglopacific.co.uk/car_shipping.htm) advertised in Malta, I struck up a liaison with the owner and after some 50 detailed photographs, routine checks and two months of negotiation – we agreed a price.  It has turned out, in the main, to be a very good purchase at a fair price and all I need now is some good weather to enjoy hood-down motoring with the family.  The wettest January since records began hasn’t been kind."

Classic car enthusiast (http://www.anglopacific.co.uk/car_shipping.htm) for well over 50 years, Glyn has owned and totally rebuilt many cars from pre-War Rileys to T Type MGs and E Type Jaguars to Austin Healeys.  His latest acquisition, the TR4A, is an uprated version of the first TR4 that came out in 1961 – uprated in the sense that it has a superior engine, independent rear suspension and small modifications to the trim and chrome work.

The TR4A sold well, with the majority being exported, and today it seems there are only around 250 of them registered in the UK, making the TR4A much sought-after and quite difficult to source in truly excellent condition.  If Glyn’s purchase holds up well and is reasonably trouble-free, he will pass the car on to his son who is a great Triumph enthusiast.

Glyn finishes, “I have no plans to own any other classic cars as I find them too time consuming and expensive to maintain.  However, that does not diminish my love of these charming old bits of machinery and my heart still misses a beat when I see an MG TC, as it was in an MG TC, 51 years ago, that my wife and I went on our honeymoon.  Such wonderful memories.”
