TEMPLETON, Calif. - Feb. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- With its launch of a new patient portal program this month, called “My Health Rec,” Twin Cities Community Hospital (http://www.twincitieshospital.com/) now offers patients the option to access select portions of their health records online, through the main hospital website at www.TwinCitiesHospital.com.

My Health Rec, featured on the hospital’s home page, allows patients to more conveniently view, manage, transmit and download certain medical records such as lab test results, immunizations, procedures, allergies, prescribed medications and hospital bills. The portal also enables users to view recent test results more quickly, pay bills online and share medical information with physicians instantaneously, at any hour and wherever internet access is available.

“My Health Rec signifies an important step towards improving patients’ healthcare experiences,” said Twin Cities CEO Mark Lisa. “This program reflects Twin Cities Community Hospital’s ongoing commitment to advancing technology and providing all of our patients with enhanced access to, and ownership of, their personal health care information.”

Inpatients with a valid email address can begin to use the secure, web-based tool starting this February 2014, by registering for a secure patient portal account during the hospital admission process; in the future, off-site self-registration for all patients will be available. Upon registration, Twin Cities Community Hospital provides a secure username and password to access patient record information. Parents will also be able to enroll their minor children and access their accounts.

Sierra Vista Hospital in San Luis Obispo, also part of the Tenet HealthSystem, simultaneously launched the same tool for their patients this week. Both Twin Cities Community Hospital and Sierra Vista first implemented electronic health records in 2011 in response to the national call to action to enhance America’s healthcare system.

“With this next step, patients can review their prescriptions on their tablets, pay their bills from their smart phones, or share lab result documents with their physicians with the click of the mouse,” said Lisa. “We are proud to offer the technology and accessibility that make healthcare easier for our patients—anytime, anywhere.”
