Follow on Google News | Bye, Bye Blue Windshield! Ryan's Auto Glass joins the CaperCarnegie Science Center replaces the Great Color Caper Windshield
By: Ryan's Auto Glass - Pittsburgh Check out the blue windshield! The Great Color Caper van owned by the Carnegie Science Center turned many heads over the past eight years. Unfortunately, it also caught the attention of local law enforcement agencies one too many times. The special aftermarket windshield, manufactured by PGW, uses blue-blocking technology similar to that of some high-performance sunglasses, making it appear blue from the outside and providing the best solar protection of any windshield on the market. Last week Ryan’s Auto Glass of Pittsburgh replaced the blue windshield with a standard PGW model. According to industry sources there were only five of the blue-blocking solar windshields manufactured by PGW, formally named PPG. The Great Color Caper was conceived and developed by Carnegie Science Center education specialists as a high-energy, interactive multimedia show that uses a super-hero, comic-book style and scientific experiments to teach students about light, energy, reflection, pigments and color perception. PPG Industries Foundation collaborated with the Carnegie Science Center in Pittsburgh and the Harley-Davidson Museum on the Pittsburgh version of “The Great Color Caper” science show for students.
