LOS ANGELES - Feb. 10, 2014 - PRLog -- Jonelle Allen, star of the classic drama “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” and the first African-American daytime drama “Generations” is starring the new film “The Divorce”, in which she is receiving rave reviews alongside Dawnn “A Different World” Lewis, Tatyana “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”, Vanessa “What’s Love Got to do With It” Bell Armstrong among others and directed by Don B. Welch.

Born in New York City, Jonelle Allen grew up in Harlem's Sugar Hill. She made her Broadway debut at the age of six in The Wisteria Trees,Joshua Logan's Americanized adaptation of The Cherry Orchard starring Helen Hays. As a child she also made regular appearances on a local children's television series, The Merry Mailman hosted by Ray Heatherton.

Miss Allen received critical acclaim and a Tony Award nomination for Two Gentlemen of Verona, which earned her New York Drama Circle Award, Drama Desk, Theatre Circle and Outer Critic Circle Award for her performance. Despite her success, it proved to be her last Broadway appearance to date.

Allen appeared as the legendary Harlem Jazz Queen Florence Mills in Harlem Renaissance at the 2007 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.


Jonelle Allen is currently a professor at Saddleback College, head of The New Works Projects, writing and directing new projects and Miss Allen has several upcoming projects.
