Follow on Google News | Singapore School Kebon Jeruk Supports Flood ReliefSingapore School Kebon Jeruk has provided flood victims relief through food, clothing and personal supplies this week in the flooded region of Jakarta.
Today SIS KJ visited a relief center where 3,000 to 4,000 people have been fed every night for the past month. Many families were brought to the relief center via raft due to the high flood waters. Says Head Teacher Craig Hansen, “It was a privileged to gift them gifts of food, clothing and person supplies, and to talk with the team who have been on station for over 25 days - many sleeping in the tent to ensure they can help when required.” A number of families only have a large plastic to sleep under, with their children beside the railroad track. This is the only place that is high enough above the flood zone for them. “We hope to be able to support the relief efforts more as needed, “ notes Mr Hansen, “Two of our own staff had their homes flooded. We were able to provide food, clothing, oil, personal supplies and grocery support. SIS has a wonderful family community in Kebon Jeruk.” For more information on SIS Kebon Jeruk see www.sis-kj.com or www.facebook.com/ End
