Kathryn Walker Elected to Chicago Board of Directors of Step Up Women's Network

CHICAGO - Feb. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Kathryn Walker was recently elected to the Chicago Board of Directors of Step Up, a non-profit organization whose mission is to propel girls from under-resourced communities to fulfill their potential by empowering them to become confident, college-bound, career-focused, and ready to join the next generation of professional women.

Founded in 1998, Step Up has offices in Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles.The organization creates and implements impactful after-school and weekend programs and unites professional women for this important cause.

Step Up Chicago has programs at four Chicago Public Schools --Carl Schurz High School, Muchin College Prep, Farragut High School, and Johnson College Prep --with plans to expand to additional schools.  In a school district with a 65% high school graduation rate, 100% of Step Up girls graduated from high school and were accepted into college in 2010, 2011, 2012, and 2013.

In addition to programs aimed at young women, Step Up provides professional development and a network of successful women from all types of industries and backgrounds.
