Atlanta Technical College awarded $2,500 Gannett Foundation Grant

The Atlanta Technical College Foundation (ATCF) recently received a $2,500 grant from The Networks of 11Alive and the Gannett Foundation to provide funding for emergency educational and support services for low-income students.
 
ATLANTA - Feb. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- The Atlanta Technical College Foundation (ATCF) recently received a $2,500 grant from The Networks of 11Alive and the Gannett Foundation to provide funding for emergency educational and support services for low-income students who are seeking to achieve self-sufficiency through career-focused education.

Since 1999, the ATCF has been providing scholarships, grants and hardship loans to help underserved students cover expenses that are not met through financial aid or traditional funding sources. The Gannett Grant will help ATCF provide assistance with tuition, books, tools, emergency shelter, transportation, daycare, and other barriers to program completion.

"The Networks of 11Alive strive every day to celebrate the human spirit through our on air and on line properties, showcasing the amazing work being done in our community helping others,” stated  WXIA-TV President and General Manager, John Deushane. “We are honored and thrilled to be able, through the Gannett Foundation, to support Atlanta Technical College and all of the local organizations recognized today, that are making such a difference for all of us who call Atlanta home."

The Gannett Foundation is a corporate foundation sponsored by Gannett Co., Inc. Through its Community Grant program, Gannett Foundation supports nonprofit activities in the communities in which Gannett does business. The Gannett Foundation makes grants to non-profit organizations based on recommendations from subsidiaries of Gannett Co. Inc

Other 2014 Gannett Grant recipients recognized by the Networks of 11Alive were Aid Atlanta, the American Cancer Society, Communities in Schools, the Captain Planet Foundation, Camp Horizon,

Cool Girls, Inc, the East Lake Foundation, Kate's Club, Lekotek of Georgia, the Make a Wish Foundation, the Midtown Assistance Center, Our House Inc, Open Hand, True Colors Theatre Company, VOX Teen Communications and Youth Enhancement Services.
