Seegrid AGV Efficient Material Handling Profiled in Industrial Engineer

Feb. 7, 2014 - PRLog -- Seegrid, makers of automated guided vehicles, was featured in the current issue of Industrial Engineer. The article, titled, “Pulling the Market in 2014,” is authored by manufacturing journalist, Thomas R. Cutler. Cutler noted, “Simultaneously, the speed at which manufacturing facilities deplete raw materials and components drives replenishment to the upstream supply chain. This is also known as consumption-driven replenishment.”

Cutler noted that at the heart of any supply chain is the movement of material. “All sites face that challenge, whether their part of the supply chain concentrates on manufacturing to distribution. In past decades, such movement required a strong back. But in recent years, warehouses and distribution centers have turned to automated systems.

Hans Moravec, chief scientist and co-founder of Seegrid, said he expects a growth trend to continue with rapid advancement of robotic vision-guided technology. The melding of workforce capacities with technology almost requires the use of industrial engineering tools for an optimized system.
