Fashion Designer Kina Young Introduces New Clothing Line Based On Novel, "The Thirteenth Day!"

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Feb. 5, 2014 - PRLog -- During an interview with Young, the designer and image stylist to celebrities, revealed the story behind her latest design creations. An unnamed source indicated the creation of a new direction in her comfortable and casual fashion line was the result of the designer’s response to reading the real story behind the novel, "The Thirteenth Day", by Justinah McFadden.

During an interview Young was candid about her inspiration for this new direction in clothing design. "I learned about the amazing and yet tragic story of unsung hero’s of the 364th Infantry stationed in Mississippi and the story of what they experienced in 1943. For me, the story went way beyond thinking about these brave soldiers as though they were just underdogs receiving the short end of the stick.

The type of woman and Christian and believer that I am made this story resonate within my soul. What happened next was that creative part of me became active and I acted on my inspiration. The result is what I hope will be viewed as a collection that combines fashion and couture with military designs that are now a brand that carries the title of the story that led to their birth."

Kina Young, born Kina Gowans was born in Houston, Texas at a time and in a place where big hair and big, Texas sized dreams were creating breakthroughs throughout the world. And such was the experience of Kina Young as ideas began to germinate in her young mind.

It is my sincere desire to help others learn of these soldiers legacy by allowing it to live on through this very special clothing line.”

The Thirteenth Day's author and motivational speaker, Justinah McFadden, will debut a selection of the Young's clothing line. McFadden will wear a blazer from The Thirteenth Day Clothing Line at a book signing event in Jacksonville Fla. on February 15th. The blazer is part of a collection affectionately named Lola, honoring the main character featured in the novel.

When you ask the designer what is next for her on her busy fashion plate, she modestly responds, "I have a few tricks up my couture sleeves, such as releasing the Spring Edition for my 0413 clothing line collection, as well as other entrepreneurial ventures. I feel so blessed to be able to use and share a God given gift, and shed light to an important historical fact which is a yet untold truth."

Kina earned her B.A in Business, Management from Prairie View A & M. To date one of the highlights of her career has been her work as a personal image stylist to celebrities, including several NFL players and their wives and a Grammy nominated artist. And more recently her newest client is bestselling author and motivational speaker Justinah McFadden.
